Guundie Kuchling |
Two-Hour Workshop This session combines the above with a practical workshop where students will plan and commence writing a story and develop illustrations using at least two art media. |
One-Day Workshop This extended session allows the two hour workshop to be taken to completion with the students finishing a piece of art work (lino cut or collage/painting) and the collation of students' stories into a dummy book for the class or school library. |
Guundie works with all ages (pre-primary to adults). |
Links to the Curriculum Guundie's books can be used in many exciting ways to engage students' interest in the natural sciences, creative writing and art, and issue-based social science. For example: Literacy - sentences, narrative structure and themes Numeracy - practical application of measurements and counting skills Science - natural history, biology Art - design/composition/media/techniques Social Sciences - conservation issues |
Children just love Guundie's vibrant, funny and informative picture books. Those lucky enough to come to her workshops, also love her appearance. Mad hats, two wildly different earrings, scarf flying, surrounded by hand puppets, turtle shells and a shaved doll, Guundie enchants her audience by talking about art, animals, books, the environment, food, and other sources for her inspirations. She gives examples how to come up with ideas and to shape them into plots; she demonstrates how to use a lino block for print making; she unleashes the writer and artist in each of the students, young and old, and gets them creating works of their own. |
For bookings please contact the Fremantle Children's Literature Centre <freoclc@iinet.net.au> or Guundie directly. |
